I’ve been talking about Stranger Sessions for weeks, and now the first one is actually here.

Tomorrow evening, two people who have never met are going to show up at the park, trust me with a camera, and see what happens.

I’m excited about it. I’m also really curious.

There’s only so much of this I can plan. I can choose the location, work out the logistics, make the match and think through how I want to shoot it. The rest belongs to the people who show up.

That’s probably what I like most about the idea.

I don’t really know what the session will feel like until it happens.

Maybe they’ll talk easily. Maybe they won’t. Maybe there will be one great moment or twenty of them. Maybe the photos I end up loving won’t be the ones I expected at all.

I think that’s what I’ve been waiting for.

To finally get out there and see what this idea looks like when it stops being an idea.
